子曰：“三1)人行，必2)有3)我师4)焉5)。择6)其善7)者而从之，其不善者而改8)。”
[Mandarin Chinese Reading] Zǐ yuē: “Sān rén xíng，bì yǒu wǒ shī yān。Zé qí shàn zhě ér cóng zhī，qí bù shàn zhě ér gǎi zhī.”
[English Translation] The Master said, “When the three of us walk together, there must be my teacher among them. I will select their good qualities and follow them, their bad qualities and change myself.”
[Modern Chinese Transltion] 孔子说：“三人同行，其中一定有我师了。我选取那些善的从它，那些不善的改正。”
1) 三: (sān). three.
2) 必: (bì). certainly, must.
3) 有: (yǒu). to have, to be.
4) 师(師): (shī). army, teacher.
5) 焉: (yān). [object paronoun] represents a combination of 於 + 之.
6) 择(擇): (zé). to select.
7) 善: (shàn). to be good.
8) 改: (gǎi). to change, to fix.
